Sources and methodology
Where the facts come from
I use primary sources first. The main ones:
- The Ministry of Investment criteria for citizenship through investment and its report on the Cabinet amendments of 15 July 2026.
- The Petra news agency: report of 15 July 2026, Ministry of Interior figures of 12 October 2026 and the Cabinet decision of 2 July 2025, read in a copy on Fana News.
- The Law No. 6 of 1954 on Nationality, last amended in 1987, in the unofficial English translation on Refworld.
- EU Regulation 2018/1806, the US treaty countries list and the US Embassy in Jordan.
- Practice notes and data published by BRIDGES: the Jordan programme page, the country page, the Jordan guide, the news of October 2026 and the Passport Index.
How I check and date information
- Each article shows an "Updated" date. It changes only when the facts are reviewed.
- I give thresholds in dinars as the criteria do. Dollar figures use about $1.41 per dinar, as BRIDGES does, and are indicative.
- Where sources differ, I show both, for example on dual citizenship (BRIDGES and Article 13(3) of the 1954 law) and on the period of the 100 investors in 2026 (1 January to 1 October in the Ministry of Interior figures, the first 10 months in BRIDGES news).
Facts I could not confirm in official sources
- that investors keep their previous nationality without renouncing it;
- the exact dinar to dollar peg, which I did not verify on the Central Bank of Jordan website;
- the H1 2026 investment figures (JOD 72 million, 820 jobs), JOD 1.15 billion since 2018 and more than 21,000 jobs;
- that the cap of 500 investors a year from 2025 still applies after July 2026;
- a passport validity of five years and the inclusion of children under 18 as BRIDGES describes it;
- government fees for the application;
- where and how Amrah City investments are made.
How often the guides are updated
All articles are reviewed at least once a quarter, and immediately after a Cabinet decision on the criteria, which the government reviews every six months.
